Dr. Cheng Zhu has been awarded the project Summary and Inclusion of Rock Slope Stabilization Techniques into GeoTechTools by the ASCE Geo-Institute. The objective of the project is to summarize state-of-the-art technologies used for rock slope stabilization and incorporate them into GeoTechTools (GTTs). Three major stabilization techniques, altering slope geometry, adding reinforcement and installing drainage will be reviewed and compared.
The project will be completed within 12 months with an awarded budget of $7000.00. The project team will include several members of the ASCE Rock Mechanics Committee: Dr. Cheng Zhu, Lianyang Zhang (University of Arizona) and Ingrid Tomac (University of California, San Diego).
The Geo-Institute is a specialty membership organization focused on geo-professionals and the geo-industry. It is one of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ eight specialty Institutes.
