Job Title: Research Associate
Department: Center for Research and Education in Advanced Transportation Engineering Systems (CREATES)
Institution: Rowan University
Estimated position start date: As early as January 01, 2023, pending approval of contract.
Duration of the position: The duration can be extended annually depending on performance and availability of funds.
Responsibilities:
The research associate will be a part of the CREATES research team working on
various transportation engineering projects, primarily on USDOT Advanced
Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment (ATCMTD)

In general, the research associate will be responsible for:

• Managing assigned project(s) on a daily basis and reporting to the projects’
  Principal Investigator.
  
  
• Conducting research and supervising graduate and undergraduate students
  working on assigned projects.
  
  
• Preparing reports and submitting papers for peer reviewed journals.
  
  
• Assisting in proposal writing activities as assigned by the PI.
  
  
• Making presentations to sponsors and at conferences.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering / Electronics and Communication Engineering / Computer
  Engineering / Computer Science or doctoral degree in relevant field.
  
  
• Defense and dissertation must be approved by committee prior to joining.
  Preferred Qualifications
  
  
• Prior experience conducting research on connected vehicles, CV2X technologies,
  autonomous vehicles, or relevant field.
  
  
• Prior experience in research related to transportation data analytics, specifically
  developing, or applying AI algorithms for various transportation solutions.
  
  
• Willingness to become a team member and a team leader of an interdisciplinary
  team as required to accomplish various tasks of the project.
