Abstract: 

The primary mission of the Bridge Resource Program-1 (BRP-1) is to provide ongoing engineering evaluation and research support to NJDOT's Bureau of Structural Evaluation and Bridge Management to preserve the State's bridge and structural assets, optimize and rehabilitate the overall condition of NJ's structures, and assist with the development of policy and standards based on new technologies. 

The BRP-1 Rowan-NYU-Rutgers team is pursuing three integrated task areas:

  1. Task 1: Innovative Data Collection, Storage, and Retrieval Techniques: Machine learning for inspection photos and LiDAR point clouds, text/data mining, SNBI compliance, drone inspection guidelines, and GIS integration.
  2. Task 2: Innovative Structural Asset and Life-Cycle Management: Bridge deterioration models (NBI/NBE/SNBI), revised trend models using stochastic approaches, and SNBI-compliant LCCA tool development.
  3. Task 3: Innovative Bridge Preservation System: Synthesis of preservation techniques and an AHP-based integrative bridge preservation decision-support system.
