The Center for Research and Education in Advanced Transportation Engineering Systems
Our goal is to conduct cutting edge, applied, and readily implementable research in transportation engineering. We seek to ensure a diverse working environment that educates and trains the next generation of professionals, and enhances the skill sets of the current workforce that can meet the engineering demands of the 21st century.Featured Projects
Electrically Heated Flexible Pavement Structures
The goal of this project is to evaluate the efficiency of electrically-heated pavements for de-icing applications in cold regions.
Cold Weather Reinforced Concrete
The goal of this project is to apply cold weather concrete mixture technology developed at CRREL to reinforced concrete applications.
Machine Learning in Bridge Design and Monitoring
The goal of this project is to develop deep understanding of different applications of machine
learning that are better suited for different structural and bridge engineering problems from structural
health monitoring/prediction, automated prediction of structural forms’ capacities; material
characteristics, and automated design practices.
