Target Reliability Resilience Analysis Framework for Wind Turbine Structures

  • Completion Date: Current
  • Funding Agency: NJ Economic Development Authority (NJEDA)
  • Project Goal:  The main contribution of this research is to develop the LRFD method based on target reliability analysis for wind turbine structures. In addition, an intellectual framework for measuring infrastructural resilience will be established to quantify the functionality of the energy system in presence of the natural disruption. For doing so, the stochastic data of service life loads, extreme events, and fatigue and deterioration probabilities will be collected and analyzed. Then, a new generation of performance-based limit state functions will be proposed. Accordingly, target reliability corresponding to the maximization of safety and minimization of the construction, maintenance, and failure costs will be computed for structural components. Finally, infrastructural robustness and redundancy will be calculated to identify resilience as a main infrastructural functionality index.
