Seasonal Frost Full-Scale Accelerated Testing Facility at CREATES

Abstract: 

This project aims to construct a state of the art, one-of-a-kind permafrost testing facility at CREATES, Rowan University. This facility will offer the ability to simulate different scenarios of permafrost thawing and re-freezing and their impacts on innovative materials, technologies, and designs researched and developed at CREATES. Having such a facility will mean that newly developed materials and technologies can be tested under more realistic Arctic conditions, thus, cost-effectively validating them before implementations. Therefore, having such a facility will benefit the DoD cold regions research that aims to faster, safer deployment of troops into the Arctic and subarctic regions.
