Evaluation of Full-Depth Reclamation Asphalt Pavements Using Accelerated Pavement Testing

Abstract:
This project involves constructing three full-scale Full-Depth Reclamation (FDR) pavement sections at Rowan University: (1) FDR with cement only, (2) FDR with emulsion and cement, and (3) FDR with cement and foamed asphalt. Each pavement section is instrumented with pavement sensors including asphalt strain gauges, pressure cells, and thermocouples. The field performance of each FDR pavement section is then evaluated using accelerated Heavy Vehicle Simulator (HVS) loading.The outcomes of this study will be used to (i) verify and (ii) recommend additional revisions, if needed, to the recently revised NJDOT FDR design and construction specifications.
